We spent the summer workcamping @ Mt. Rushmore. If time permits, look up the town of Rochford and have a beer and burger at the Moonshine Gulch Saloon.

Rochford is about 1/2 way between Hill City and Deadwood. Off the main road. Summer population is about 25 folks and winter maybe 10. Also see if the Rochford Mall is still open.
Also, if there during the fall, be sure to drive Spearfish Canyon for the turning of the aspens.
