I have the molded rear cap. I welded up a hitch to tow my little squirt boat. I bolted it to the frame with six 1/2" bolts. The boat and trailer weighs in right at 2000#. You'll get a lot of pushback from most of the full timers on the MOC about rear hitches. I've put one on all 3 of my Montana's without issue pulling either 2 jetskis or my current squirt boat. I've been with the MOC a long time and have never read an article about frame issues directly attributed to a rear hitch setup. Here's a photo. The gusseted post on the hitch is a bicycle rack.
