Birds in the pinbox—an elegant solution

This is in response to the thread we had about a month or so ago about birds in pin boxes…

We were out walking through Calhoun Fall SP in South Carolina with Marsha’s father and step–mother Friday morning when I saw there was another Montana in the campground. I told them to go on and went over to say hello. Turns out he has a 2004 3295 RK and ours is a 2003, so we compared and talked and I informed him of MOC. Hopefully, he will join the fun when he returns home to Ashville, NC.

But as we talked, the topic of pin boxes came up, and he showed me the improvements he made to his to keep birds out of it. He has taken some light plyboard and screwed it to the front, back and bottom of the pinbox, totally enclosing it. The front is painted black, and the back and bottom white, so it actually blends in quite nicely. What was elegant about it though, was that on the back he cut a hole in the ply board and attached one of the plastic covers like the ones that cover the city and fresh water outlets on our units, complete with a key lock. He opened his, and he had his seven way cord stored inside of it, protected from the elements.

I thought it was a nice solution to the problem.
