We went through the same thing with our 2013 Ram. It was the first year of the puck system. They had to drill into the bed even though I had the puck system because there wasn’t a mounting system available yet. They eventually gave me the “picture frame” at no charge, but it always had those extra holes. If you don’t have a hitch yet, I would recommend a truck specific hitch. On my 2013 Inhad to get down and install the picture frame (about 75 lbs) and pin it in place. Then, lower the hitch and put the 4 pins in it. I just ordered the Pullrite 2600 that uses the bed mount gooseneck ball. That would be another option with Pullrite or Andersen. Andersen wouldn’t work for us because of the 22% grade on our driveway.
