I wanted a way to store my books, so my DH and his buddy built this bookcase for me out of an old futon. It was made for our old SOB, but fortunately we have a spot for it in our new Monty. Now I know others probably don't have old futons around, but maybe you can use the idea and build your own.
It accomodates paperback and hardback books. Currently I am reading mostly paperbacks.
The big advantage is it takes very little room. They built it to my specified height so I can put my cup of coffee or glass of wine on the top.
He attached it to the wall using with angle brackets.
