You assume incorrectly! My F350 DRW is a long bed. I also had never hit the rail or toolbox before. In fact , it cleared it.!

We’ve been full/-time since January This happened because there was very little space to maneuver and we were on very uneaven ground. We hadn’t encountered this before. We were busy watching the rear clearance of the trailer and the front of the truck and didn’t see the problem until it was too late. Lesson learned.

Glad you’re so perfect and won’t ever make a mistake!
