I do put a little silicone on the pulley shafts as well as the drive chain which in some cases is dang difficult to see. The cables are supposed to be stainless steel and require no maintenance other then maybe a wipe down if dirty. The BAL IB is a good guide for any adjustments or cable replacement but as far as adjustments, you need to use your judgement listening and watching the slide as it operates.
