I wired ours to the porch light and put the receiver in the light itself. I left the sensor extending out of the light cover so the remote works with it. I used 3M to attach the light strip just under the awning. I then used 3 M tape to attach a second strip to the awning boom. I used an extended wire to attach the two so they work as one with the same remote. They work fine. Bought both from Amazon for about $16 each.
