I have to say I believe it is the actual fuel station that sets the limits. As Glenn said, one station is one way and go 10 miles down the road and the same company just different station is different. The Flying J I use to buy both my diesel and gas says they have a limit, but to this day it has never been happened. =) I ran a gas bill earlier this summer of over $375 and the pump charged it to my card with one swipe of my card.
