Route 9 southern vermont

Towed from ny on ny 7 and over through vermont on Route 9 yesterday to get to brattleboro. Much of the route is "scenic", and some of it I would rate as interesting. There was very narrow portions with uphill that make for slow going and elevated oil temps. There were a couple grade 8 downhills with twists and turns. One seemed more like a 10 to 12 than a 8. I would not want to have traveled this with standard suspension and drum brakes. I was down to second gear and gaining speed quite fast when I didn't keep applying the brakes. Just thought people thinking of this route with the larger, heavier montana would like a recent review. Would I take this again? I think the answer is yes in a car, but not in my montana.
