Very common problem. If you are lucky, under your bathroom sink a waterline will come up from the basement connect to a black (usually) device and then the line goes back to the basement. That is a vacuum breaker and needs to be replaced. If your not lucky it's in the wall somewhere and there are a number of walls it could be behind. When you find it, either illuminate it altogether and use and exterior one (what we do) or replace it with a good brass one from the hardware store.
