We've been using a ground-mounted dish for eight years full time and haven't run into a problem. With our High Speed Internet System, I run a cable through one of the legs on the tripod up through the back of the dish and down through my ballast (water container or fuel containers) and padlock it. Take some kind of thief to get it although if they want it bad enough they can get it. Locking something only keeps an honest man honest.
