This is certainly not the shortest route but it does avoid and of the route I-90 that goes along Lake Erie in the winter...
Hi, We did the I-75 and I-59 parts last year, I don't recall any probems with that section. I agree with your plan to avoid I-90 south of Lake Erie. It always snows there!
We are planning to leave our trailer in Alabama while we return home over Chrismas until mid-January. We will drive back without a trailer, probably through Detroit to I-75/71/65, then head west from Alabama. I hear that part of I-10 is really rough, so we may be looking for another route. Have to do some map work.
