Michigan to Florida at the end of February????

Hi all,

We are thinking (trying to talk RC into it ) about taking a trip from our home in Michigan, which is about 30 miles north of Detroit to Lady Lake, Florida at the end of this month. Leaving on February 21 and returning home March 1.

As I was chatting with someone tonight they mentioned the possibility of the roads being icy? Yikes!!! Being newbies that scares the heck out of me.

I'm also concerned with the kind of grades we might encounter. If we take this trip we will be taking our most precious cargo with us, our teenage daughter and her friend. So...

...can anyone tell me what I-75 is like between Michigan and Florida? Does it have gradual grades to relatively flat terrain, or is it white knuckle, suck in your breath, heart palpating, dig your finger nails into your mate; scary grades and cliff edge roads?

This will really be our first trip in our Montana aside from the maiden voyage to test her out which only was a thirty minute drive. Not hilly at all. In your opinion if we do this are we attempting something we shouldn't?

It would also be greatly appreciated if anyone had any advise on our first trip if we do end up going?

In advance thank you for all your input. I wasn't nervous but now I am.

Take care all,
Samantha
