We have a couple of the butane long handle lighters (normally used to light outside grills) which are available at WalMart, kitchen stores, and other retailers for just a few dollars. Think we got two in a pack for less than $10.00. Much better than matches and fit easily into the kitchen utensil drawer. Have been using the same ones for over a year and even use them to light outdoor campfires. Still have plenty of butane in them. I have never used the spark lighter that is on the stove. The long handle on these also make it much easier to light the oven.
