Another vote for the slide toppers. Living in the south it helps keep the Rv cool when parked in the sun. The sun doesn't hit right on the slide top. Also if parked under a pine tree falling pine needles can't get directly on top of slide. No topper the pine needles get on top of slide and need to be cleaned off before closing slide.

Agree they are a pain when real windy. We stay on Gulf Coast two months and a lot of Rvers throw strap over awning.
