From what I have read, the weight limit on a tongue tow hitch is 10,000 lbs. My truck manual states that any load over 10,000 must be a 5th wheel. I can't imigine that much weight being pulled off of the rear frame stub on any truck.
Years ago I overloaded the frame mounted hitch of my vehicle by a great deal. I locked the trailer breaks and gave a "test" pull and ripped the whole rear frame off of a 2 week old truck. My wife was SO proud of me.
