My stuff is on either side of the vent tube and the stuff has never interfered with the vent tube. However, my fishing rods go behind the vent tube and are mounted to the wall. To prevent the fishing rod guides from hitting the vent tube, I installed three 3" plastic tubes to the wall using a strap and buckle. The strap is screwed to the wall and secures the tubes. Unhook the buckle and the tubes can come out for service behind the wall. The fishing rods go into the tubes and are protected and the vent tube is protected, as well. If anyone needs photos, please let me know.
