reese pro series hitch issue
got back from perm stop over the summer and unhitched in front of the house. pulled the jaws release bar and no problem. went to close it and the right jaw only close. oh boy, got a problem. found the pivot pin that goes to the bottom of the left jaw had sheared off at the top and the pin fell down and went to the the top of the left jaw and was barely grabbing it.
almost a DISASTER for sure. i just got done towing 300 miles.
morale of the story check your hitch out on a regular basis. when did it happen, i don't know for sure but believe it was from the tow home or the hookup.
good thing is it got caught, and reese is sending me a new head for the hitch over night free of charge as a warranty item.
was thinking i was going to have problems getting to the Rocky mountain rally. hitch head will be here tomorrow.
