As far as Maine goes...Acadia was awesome. Great views, great trails & beaches, great popovers at Jordan Pond House (although hard to get a parking spot it is so popular!) We will definitely be going back. Bar Harbor is a great little town to visit/stay. Make sure to stop at Red's Eats (in Wiscasset, ME) for a lobster roll on your way up. It is just a small little walk up trailer shack of a place just before the bridge, but it's well known for it's lobster rolls, so be prepared to stand in a long line....but you won't regret it...over a pound of lobster on one roll! it is to die for!
If you are a baseball fan, Stop in Cooperstown, NY on the way up. It is home to the Baseball Hall of Fame (3 stories high)..and is a great place to visit. The town is baseball themed with some great restaurants and shops. Also home to DoubleDay field!
