Hopefully it is just a little grease and nothing to worry about however if you have not had the wheel bearings cleaned and repacked in the last year or so I think I'd get that done. Cheap insurance to possibly prevent a major headache somewhere down the road.
Just adding a bit of lube to the thing might actually make things worse depending on the condition of the bearings and seals. Get them checked. Just to be safe.
