Yes, in my humble opinion, the gate valve is the way to go. I wanted to like the boom, I really did, but it was inconvenient at times, depending on the location of the campground sewer. And most times, the amount of hose it held wasn't enough, so I had to store more elsewhere, anyway. Good idea on paper, but not practical in the real world, was my conclusion.
