The AC in my living room is doing the exact same thing as Mikes. I also have the same setup, I have two separate thermostats, one in the bedroom and one in the living room. The one in the bedroom works flawlessly. If I put the one in the living room on low, or automatic, it will cut off at the selected temperature but never turn back on no matter how hot it gets. If I put the fan on HI it works just fine, the compressor cuts in and out as needed.
