You have to cut the filler neck hose and install a T fitting in the hose.
This T fitting has a float ball valve that close off when the fuel gets up to it.
I've had ours in two different trucks over 8 or 9 years and it has worked perfectly every single time. (Chevy and Ford)

You simply purchase the T fitting kit that fits your truck. (The filler neck hose is different diameters on different trucks). The kit comes with everything you need to install the gravity fill.

I'm not familiar with the fuel cap on your Ram.
