Sven, that blowout pictured occurred on April 2, 2010, on Interstate 8 in San Diego, CA, just east of the Waring Rd exit. At that point there are 5 lanes of traffic (this is in town) and the debris was spread across all five lanes. Shortly after we pulled over a CHP officer stopped and pulled all the debris off the road. He had far more guts than I do. Thankfully we had been in the right lane (our exit was coming up) and there were no accidents because of the debris.
