Unless you just want the insurance to handle it, if it were me, and based on your thoughts about selling it, I'd opt for a patch with a piece of roofing material, glue, and the special tape for roof repairs. If I was looking at a used RV with a large 3x4 patch, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase it as long as the repair is done correctly.
