I have always been a fan of permanent, built in, gensets. I have a 6.5 KW Onan that I converted to Propane. I don't have to lug generators in and out of the basement (or truck bed), carry extra fuel separately or extra electrical cords. Yes it will cost more but I just turn on the propane and hit the start button. AND I can run both A/C. You might want to consider the option.
