If you look at the duct work, you will see that it does not extend into the living room area, there is a vent at the partition header between the kitchen/dining room area and the living room but it does not blow a whole lot of air since it is at the end of the duct work. The noisy solution is to open the quick cool damper on the bottom of the ac in the kitchen area. I am fortunately six feet tall and can reach it with a case knife. Another solution would be to supplement the air flow in the rig with a fan pointing to the living room area. We have a fantastic fan in the living room which when used draws a little more air up that way and allows an escape route for the upper level warmer air. Hope this helps.
