IH-35 campgrounds - Texas

Just north of the Red River in OK there is the Winstar Casino and a Good Sam Campground. I have never stayed there but it is on our list to do soon.

You should definitely take I35W thru Fort Worth (NOT I35E thru Dallas).
There is a little construction going thru Fort Worth but it's not bad mid-day.

Near Texas Motor Speedway (north of Fort Worth) there is Northlake Village RV. We stayed there for a week while I was working nearby. It is nice.

I think the BEST place in all of DFW is The Vineyards Campground in Grapevine, which is ~15 minutes east of I35 down Hwy 114, but easy to get to. We have stayed many times and we love that place!!

Just south of Fort Worth is Yogi Bears Jellystone Park. We stayed there one night...it is ok but it's way over-priced for my tastes. If you have kids with you I suppose it might be worth it.

Continuing south - there is an old KOA in the town of West...pass!...keep going a few more miles to the I35RV park referenced above in post #2. We have never stayed there but it looks very nice.

If you have never stopped for gas at a Bucee's be sure to stop at the one in Temple TX, or the one north of San Antonio in New Braunfels. You won't believe how nice roadside gas stops have become! Also Slovacek's in West is a nice stop for BBQ or kolaches. Old-school Stuckey's on steroids x 1 million.

There is an old KOA just south of Belton - pass!

There are some nice paces north of Austin in Georgetown a few minutes off the interstate - have never stayed there but they look nice, plus there are 2 Corp parks at Lake Georgetown.

If you want to stay in Austin - there is an old KOA a few miles south of downtown now called Austin Lone Star RV Resort. Stayed there years ago in the pop-up with kids. Driving by it still looks nice. It is gated.

Crestview RV in Buda has a campground behind the dealership. I have never stayed there but it is next to Cabellas if you need to shop.

Just north of San Marcos is Plum Creek RV Resort. Looks nice but have never stayed there.

Just south of San Marcos is Canyon Trail RV Park across from the Outlet Mall. It's ok for an over-night. There is a for sale sign up now - Looks like the guy is trying to sell the land and retire.

Camping World is just north of New Braunfels if you need to shop.

I always notice River Ranch RV Resort under the I35 bridge in New Braunfels but have never stayed there. In October '98 we had a 100 yr rain event and the place was 20' under water but they have rebuilt.

Hill Country RV resort is just south of New Braunfels. Stayed there years ago with kids and went to Schlitterbahn water park. I remember it as more of a mobile home park but it was years ago. It is sort of up and over a hill on the east side of the highway - not visible from I35, so I don't know what it looks like today.

A few miles south of New Braunfels is Stone Creek RV Resort - looks ok based on drive-by at 70 mph.

In San Antonio - I agree with the post above - Travelers World is nice and convienient to downtown - if you can get in. Good Luck. We always stay at the KOA and love it. I stayed there when I was a kid for Hemisfair '68 and have been back dozens of times since. It's a no-brainer for us. During the October 1998 flood - the KOA was 6' underwater. That prompted them to start building new facilites to make it the great place it is today.
