Brad,

We recently stayed in that park too. The spaces are real nice, the ponds and the Colorado river there are nice for viewing lots of birds, and fishing for the kids is pretty good too.

The only thing we disliked was the price. After paying ~$25 for the space rent, and then the $6 for the state park entrance fee on a daily basis, that seemed a bit steep considering the daily fee was not part of the camping fee.

Hope you enjoyed the Colorado National Monument. There are so many wonderful hikes there, especially if you have a shuttle. Someone can take you to the top and then be able to walk mostly downhill to the lower levels.

I know the camp hosts really worked hard there. Hard to imagine someone who has that kind of money able to work as a 'freebie' there.

There is also another great state park managed by the same group up in the DeBeque canyon on the way to Rifle. It sits right on the Colorado River.
