Well it is not really new.NASA Glenn Research center here in Cleveland, Ohio has been working on it for years.The system operats in the KA-band frequency and "spot beam" means the beam (signal) can be directed to a smaller area. It is a different system that Directtv/directway but, I think, much better..It is to complicated to explain..if interested go the NASA web site and work your way to the Glenn reserch center or do a google on ka-band spot beam.
