Packing the "Basement"

You know, that big pass-through storage they like to call your "basement"... the 3575 basement measures almost 2 x 6 feet, for close to 100 cu ft of storage with just a few vulnerable interruptions, like plumbing and venting...

Anyway, as we get ready to fill it up (downsizing a house-life into a full-time fiver life) I wonder if anyone has any cautionary "horror stories" (like, wrecked some plumbing or had it all shift into the access door), or "tales of woe" (like stuff that gets lost or trapped in bad places) ... or has good advice on how to pack, stabilize the load, etc...

We'd like to plan avoid troubles now, with only three weeks to go...
