I don't know about a Mountaineer, but some Montanas have/had a remote control system which allowed you to open/close slides, operate the awning, turn on/off the scare lights and, later on, operate the hydraulic jacks from a hand held remote. The brain for this system lives in the pass through compartment. It has a propensity to quit operating properly (i.e. switches no longer work).
