I wish the portable icemakers had been available in 2001 when I wanted an icemaker for my RV. I ended up buying a Uline undercounter unit that made 20lbs a day and had a 12lb bin. I have also used it at times as a temp freezer for one or two small items. When traveling I use my inverter so the unit is running and the ice is not wet at the end of the day. I have reinstalled it in two RVs since then and it has more than paid for itself. If you use a lot of ice, it is well worth the convenience.
