It depends on you. How are you going to use it? Are you going to use only 30-amp sources (so you don't have to lug the 50-amp cable around? Then only use a 30-amp surge guard. But if you're more inclined to use 50 amps when it's available, then go with the 50-amp surge guard. I happen to have both the 30-amp and 50-amp portable surge guards because I had the 30-amp surge guard when we had an older unit that only used 30 amps. Do what YOU think is best for you and your usage.
