I thought our electric element went out on the water heater, After changing the element and filling the tank I flipped the breaker back on and heard the same popping we heard before. It went away so we flipped the red light switch on the panel and had sparks and smoke shooting out of the junction Box on top of the water heater. This is what I found inside.
Ok so now my question, I think the black box the yellow orange and black wires are in is fine the only fried part is the 110 connection where it was spliced. Am I ok to just cut off the bad wire and reconnect it all? what are your thoughts?
