In storage, when not in use, our slides are in. The roofs of the slides will remain cleaner. If your RV is subject to any high winds or storms while in storage, it will have a better chance of surviving with less damage with the slides in. If there is any reason you would need to use it during the winter and it is stored where snow and ice can get on it, you'll want the slides in or you may have trouble closing them if ice accumulates on top.

If your slides are hydraulic, storing them with the slides in will have less of the cylinder piston exposed to the atmosphere and subject to rust.
