Ford has a message in thier computers very nicely placing the blame on the trailers. I went through this problem many times, one more then one type of trailer, to the extreme of them blaming me for possibly soda spilling on the unit..um who were the idiots who put it right next to the drink holder? At this time I had it happening with my Logan horse trailer. Called Logan dealer and they said, nope, it's the brake controller. I sold the truck, but was close to just installing a normal brake controller and disconnecting the on board model. Nothing scarier then stopping with a trailer and the brakes going out from this issue..too close of call.
