New Mexico is different. You have to like a little winter. Even Deming is higher in altitude than the areas of Texas and Arizona near it. Surprised us too the first time. While your there, be sure and go down to Mexico and shop at the Pink Store. Always a fun shopping experience when they meet you at the door with a free Margarita.
