Most of our homes, (and all commercial buildings) have the vacuum breaker on the outside faucets, if a hose would be in a Koi Pond, for instance and the pressure in the hose lessened, the hose could draw in water into the fresh water system. The vacuum breaker stops this. Same idea with the Black water sprayer. We don't want nastys being drawn into our fresh water.
