I found that for the doors to stay closed not only do they need to be tight, the male pin has to be exactly aligned with the female side. If it's a little off, you don't have the springs on both sides holding it in place very well. Of course, heavy items inside could still push the doors open but they won't come open by themselves.

The latches have screws that can be tightened. They also have adjusting slots so you can move them side to side a little bit. On one of ours I straightened the bent male side with needle nose pliers. Other than that they'd probably have to be replaced, I would think.
