Having worked for Terminix for several years, I would say, from your description, it very well could be Powder Post Beetles (look them up on the internet). If that's what it is, bug spray won't do the job.
You will need an exterminator or a replacement, before they get into something else in your rig!!!
They get into wood before it is used in manufacturing something.
If the holes in your wood look about the size of pin holes, you probably should act very soon.
