Welcome aboard! Just a point of reference, our first Montana was a 2001 and had the heavier frame with no problems. I'm not sure when they changed to the heavier frame so it wouldn't hurt to check just in case it was a running change during the 2001 model year.
Like you, we looked at many but kept coming back to the Montana. When we decided to trade our first Montana we went for another Montana. Just can't seem to beat them for bang for the buck in my opinion. And a great company that stands behind the product.
