I'm with Jerry on this one. Have you ever turned on the water heater and not had any water in it or did the dealer so this possibly? If so, the heating element burns out within about 5-8 seconds if it does not have water around it. This could very likely be the problem. I did have a problem with mine last year down in AZ. We checked everything and finally found out we had a loose connection on the wiring going to the switch in the water heater compartment itself. I worked fine on gas but nothing on electric. The dealer had it and traced it down to the loose connection. Simple fix but it cost me the price of an hours labor at the dealer because none of us could find the problem. We used meters and all on it too!
