Damaged Dinette table finish

We have a 2012 3750FL. We haven't used the dinette table for any sit down dinners. We usually just use tv trays and have dinner in the living room while watching tv. On our last camping trip we had some friends over for dinner and used the dinette table for the first time. I like having the table and it worked out great.
After dinner while removing the dinner plates from the table I noticed that the finish on the table was was damaged where the dinner plates were sitting. The heat from the food sitting on the plates turned the finish a milky white where each plate was sitting.

The finish is ruined. I never had this happen to a wooden dinette table before. Has anyone had this happen to their table? I know you're not supposed to put anything hot directly on the table. Shouldn't the table be able to withstand dinner plates with food on them?

It looks bad. I'm either going to have to have it repaired/refinished and most likely not match the pedestal and chairs or replace the table top.
I know I could just get a table cloth and cover it but I like the wood finish.
