We just did the same as you are asking this past summer on the living room and dining room slide. It worked well, but the transition from slide to main floor was a bit of a trick. Once we finally figured it out, it worked well. We pulled all the carper out and found thin insulation that we left in place. Then laid the planks directly on the insulation. My wife documented the install on the following blog.
