I might be able to help with part of your questions. I just pulled up the carpet in our unit and replaced with Pergo an found all the carpet has a tack strip and is stapled down in spots.. We are going to replace the carpet we left in the slide will new carpet. This to has a tack strip around the outside with some staples. Also the only thing under the carpet is a cheap pad that has deterated so there was nothing left.
