Farm Boy, I have a Dodge 2500 CDT 2004.5. Have 373 gears and I tow a 33 foot fifthwheel, so I thik we are about the same. The tow/haul in our models only take you out of OD. If your tranny is 'searching for gears while towing then use tow haul. If your on flat ground and the diesel is in a good rpm range use OD. The Ford and Chevys transmissions work much better then our year model. Which is why Dodge went to a 6 speed. I towed to Alaska last year and I mainly used Tow Haul to slow me down as not to use the brakes to much. Upon coming home I installed an Pac Brake Exhaust Brake. Wish I had done this prior to Alaska. I only use tow haul now, when in traffic or town.

Hope this helps??
