I can see the pump working for the trans oil, but the engine oil? This would be nice for if I ever overfill my trans reservoir, I can pump some back out. I think what "mlh" is referring to is when I look down my crankcase oil fill cap all I see is a bunch of metal (valves, etc.), not the oil reservoir so I don't think this pump would work for my engine oil. However, I do have one of those Fumoto levers for draining the oil, so I can open this for a second or two to collect oil for a sampling.
To me, $30 seems a little too high for this pump. I'd look around for a cheaper alternative.
