I hook all the time not being straight to the unit and 45° is not out of the question as i have had to hooked 90° to pull a unit out, just watch your tail gate as it could hit the front of the 5ver at that angle and try to keep the pin at the right height so the corner of the pin box dosent dig in to the hitch saddle.
